BLACKSBURG, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--David Long, president of Vitech Corporation, announced today that the application process is now open for the James E. Long Memorial Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award, established by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Foundation. Honoring and recognizing the many contributions to the field of systems engineering by Jim Long, Vitech’s former CEO, the yearly fellowship will be awarded at the 22nd annual INCOSE International Symposium in Rome, July 9-12, where nearly 1,000 of the world’s leading systems engineers will gather. The $5,000 award supports post-doctoral research with the potential to advance the state of the art in systems thinking or the systems perspective, or advance the practice of systems engineering.
James E. Long
An INCOSE Fellow, innovator and chief methodologist in systems engineering, Jim Long held a variety of technical, management and executive positions with General Motors, TRW and TITAN Systems during his distinguished, 50-year career. His work played a critical role in the development of aerospace, propulsion, defense, surveillance and communications systems. Jim Long energetically and passionately dedicated the final 18 years of his career to championing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and CORE, a model-based integrated systems engineering software tool.
