Research and Markets: Denmark Telecommunications Report Q1 2012 - Market Average to Show Slight Fall over the Long Term, Dropping To DKK179.9 In 2016

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/80566dfd/denmark_telecommun) has announced the addition of the "Denmark Telecommunications Report Q1 2012" report to their offering.

BMI now estimate that the mobile market had some 6.965mn subscriptions at the end of 2011; this reflects y-o-y growth of 3.5%. This yielded a penetration rate of 125%, down from 121.2% a year earlier. Meanwhile, BMI believes there were more than 4mn 3G subscribers at the end of 2011, reflecting a y-o-y increase of 47.3% from approximately 2.75mn in 2010. By the end of 2016, BMI forecast a total market of around 6.7mn 3G subscribers; this would be equivalent to roughly 95% of the total mobile subscriber base.

Over the five years to 2016, BMI predict slowing and even negative rates of growth for the Danish mobile market. By the end of 2016, BMI envisage more than 7mn mobile subscribers, giving the country a penetration rate of around 124%.

BMI now estimate that the average blended ARPU for Denmark's mobile sector fell to DKK182 in 2011, a 7.0% drop compared to 2010. In 2012 and 2013, BMI expect ARPUs to see further slight declines, as subscriber bases become more heavily weighted towards low-value MVNO and prepaid subscriptions. However, BMI predict positive growth for Denmark's mobile ARPUs in the latter years of their forecasts, as ARPUs benefit from an increasingly stable customer mix, as well as a continued rise in the use of mobile data, internet and video services. BMI forecasts the market average to show a slight fall over the long term, dropping to DKK179.9 in 2016.

BMI estimate that the Danish fixed-line telephony sector shrank by 6.7% in 2011, resulting in a fixed-line penetration rate of 42.1% at the end of the year. By the end of 2016, BMI forecasts that Denmark's fixedline penetration will have fallen to 32.6%. Over the forecast period, BMI expect VoIP subscriptions to account for an increasing share of total fixed-line subscriptions.
