MIAMI--()--Pescanova USA, one of the largest seafood companies in the United States, presented a $100,000 check today to the South Florida National Parks Trust to benefit South Florida’s national parks. The $100,000 donation will be applied over three years to support programs and projects in South Florida’s four national parks, including Biscayne National Park, the largest marine park in the national park system.

“We are pleased to partner with the South Florida National Parks Trust to support these amazing parks,” says Pescanova USA President Rafael Bru. “As a company committed to sustainable fishing and Aquaculture, we support the education programs at Biscayne National Park that teach so many students about South Florida’s marine environment.”

More than 6,500 students, teachers and parents participated last year in curriculum-based education programs offered by Biscayne National Park and supported by the Trust. While visiting the park, students conduct wildlife inventories, salinity monitoring and plant identification, performing some of the same tasks that park scientists routinely perform.

“Environmental education is one of our top priorities,” says Biscayne National Park Superintendent Mark Lewis. “We are deeply grateful to Pescanova USA for their support.”

Pescanova USA’s contribution will be disbursed over a 3-year period and will benefit all four national parks in South Florida – including Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks and Big Cypress National Preserve – by supporting the work the Trust does on behalf of these parks. The Trust helps to fund education programs in all four parks.

“We are truly fortunate to have so many national parks in South Florida,” notes Trust Chairman Carlos Arazoza. “We welcome Pescanova USA as a partner and look forward to working with the company in support of these remarkable places.”
