AECOM awarded two Yorkshire Water design-build contracts totaling approximately US$64 million

LOS ANGELES--()--AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM), a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for public and private clients in more than 130 countries around the world, announced today that it has been awarded two design-build contracts with a combined value of approximately US$64 million to upgrade the Blackburn Meadows Wastewater Treatment Plant for Yorkshire Water in Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Under the first contract, which is valued at approximately US$40 million and part of the Yorkshire Water’s large schemes framework, the company will upgrade the water treatment process. This includes new inlet works, new and refurbished primary tanks, and aeration lanes to ensure that Blackburn Meadows meets the requirements of the European Union’s Freshwater Fish Directive.

For the second contract, valued at approximately US$24 million, the AECOM team will provide a new mesophilic anaerobic digestion plant. This project will treat all sludge from Blackburn Meadows and the surrounding wastewater treatment works. The plant will be designed to treat up to 21,000 tons of dry solid sludge annually, including thickening and dewatering processes, as well as minimizing Yorkshire Water’s carbon footprint by producing renewable energy via a combined heat and power system.

“We are delighted to continue our relationship with Yorkshire Water and we look forward to helping achieve their sustainability targets,” said AECOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John M. Dionisio.
