FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Michele L. Stocker, shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale Office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been honored by the Crockett Foundation at its recent Love For Literacy Gala. The 2012 Love For Literacy Honorees were saluted for their individual contributions supporting education and literacy in Broward County. The Foundation's founders, former NFL players Henri and Zack Crockett refer to Stocker, a Foundation Board Member, as the Foundation's 2012 MVP for her leadership, advice and enthusiasm.
"It is highly rewarding to be involved with the Foundation and I am appreciative that Henri and Zack asked me to serve on the board," said Stocker. "This is the kickoff of an annual event to raise money to improve literacy, and this year we will use the proceeds to provide tutoring sessions to help middle school children," said Stocker.
As chair of the firm's Financial Services Litigation Practice, Stocker has a broad range of experience representing clients in the financial services industry including local and national banks, consumer finance companies, mortgage bankers, credit card companies, and third-party debt collectors. She also regularly advises clients in employment-related matters involving discrimination, harassment, severance agreements, restrictive covenants, and wage and hour issues.
Last year, Stocker was selected by Business Leader magazine among "South Florida's Women Extraordinare." She was selected among "South Florida's 100 Most Accomplished Black's in Law," in 2009 by ICABA, a social network of black accomplished professionals. Stocker holds a J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a B.A., cum laude, from Princeton University. Stocker is admitted to practice in Florida and New York.
