Aruba Unveils the Industry’s First Technical Certification to Address Networking Challenges for BYOD

Aruba Certified Solutions Professional (ACSP) curriculum combines intensive training on wireless LANs, network security and mobile devices

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) today announced the industry’s first technical certification for network engineers designed specifically to address the new networking requirements that have emerged as a result of the consumerization of IT and the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) phenomenon.

“Wireless networking is quite challenging compared to wired,” said Gordon Tan, ACMX #5, ACDX #5, CWSP, CWNA, OPST, SISP, Airheads MVP Expert, head of service and support engineering at Nexwave Telecoms Pte. Ltd. Singapore. “In addition to wired networking principles, you must have knowledge on 802.11 RF, mobile device troubleshooting, RF planning and visualization, authentication and encryption, and more. The Aruba Certified Solutions Professional curriculum is the industry’s first technical certification to deliver practical knowledge on solving real world problems in wireless networking.”

The Aruba Certified Solutions Professional (ACSP) curriculum covers critical topics including RF fundamentals, Wi-Fi design for high density client environments, secure authentication and encryption and mobile device provisioning for employees and guests. The curriculum will utilize Aruba's remote hands-on lab and delivery infrastructure, enabling distance learning so that students can attend from home or work and save both time and money.

This and other Aruba certifications are supported by Aruba Airheads Community, a dynamic group of networking experts who gather online and in-person to collaborate on best practices in implementation, management and ongoing use of mobile access networks. Each class lists for $1,500 and begins in April. Those who complete the course by July 31 will save 50 percent off the listed fee.

Aruba Certification Overview

Aruba Certified Engineers gain extensive engineering knowledge on real-world deployment scenarios and can act as the go-to resource for enterprise mobility projects. Aruba offers associate, professional, and expert level exams to help engineers gain essential and comprehensive knowledge to further their professional development. Aruba certification exams are validated by field personnel and are updated regularly to reflect both current feature sets and best practices.

Aruba certifications currently include the following, in addition to ACSP:

  • ACMA (Aruba Certified Mobility Associate) – This course tests participants’ knowledge of best practices when deploying a single controller WLAN
  • ACMP (Aruba Certified Mobility Professional) This course covers more complex network settings in a multi-controller WLAN
  • AWMP (Aruba Wireless Mesh Professional) – This course enables engineers to design and deploy Aruba wireless outdoor mesh networks
  • ACDX (Aruba Certified Design eXpert) – This course tests participants’ ability to design mobile access networks
  • ACMX (Aruba Certified Mobility eXpert) – This course ensures that participants can implement and troubleshoot a large-scale Aruba WLAN

*ACMP is a pre-requisite for ACDX and ACMX certifications.

Additional Participant Quotes

“If you’re a network engineer who’s looking to expand your technical knowledge and get more marketable skills, Aruba Certified Solutions Professional training is a must,” said James Whitehead, Airheads MVP Expert, Systems Engineer, i-RAS Solutions in London. “The ACSP certification is the first step in making you the go-to resource for enterprise mobility projects.”

"The course takes a holistic approach to managing wireless networks, and the marriage of Wi-Fi fundamentals with vendor-specific materials is certain to enhance engineering confidence for those that participate," said Ryan Holland, ACMX#1, ACDX#1, Airheads MVP Guru, associate director of network operations, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University.

“ACSP is the industry’s first solution based technical certification for wireless networking,” said Steve Carr CCIE #2407 ACMX #1024, consulting systems engineer at Aruba Networks. “Training classes are based on practice not theory; they are designed to give you the practical knowledge to design and deploy not only the WLAN infrastructure but also other components such as authentication servers, mobile devices and mobile applications.”

“Every engineer in wireless networking needs fundamental knowledge on RF and wired networking,” said George Anderson CWNE #36 ACMP, channel systems engineer at Aruba Networks, USA. “In addition, they also need practical, best practices knowledge to get things done quickly and effectively as they are operating a wireless LAN. ACSP training program is designed for network engineers who want to further their professional development and desire more bankable technical Wi-Fi skills.”
