ExteNet Systems to Improve Cellular Coverage at Omni Severin Hotel in Indianapolis

New Distributed Network Will Greatly Improve Coverage and Capacity at Luxury Hotel

LISLE, Ill.--()--ExteNet Systems, Inc. has been selected to design, build and operate a distributed telecommunications network at the Omni Severin Hotel in Downtown Indianapolis for use by multiple carriers. The scope of the project covers 425,000 square feet of newly renovated guest rooms as well as adjacent outdoor areas. The hotel is ideal for business and leisure guests because of its location in the heart of the downtown entertainment district and proximity to Circle Centre Mall, the Indiana Convention Center, Conseco Fieldhouse, Lucas Oil Stadium and the Georgia Street Improvement Project.

The distributed antenna system (DAS) network is designed to provide guests, hotel associates and visitors access to seamless cellular service throughout the property. Because the hotel network works in conjunction with ExteNet’s downtown Indianapolis outdoor network, cellular access will extend to the hotel’s parking areas and to the skywalk to the convention center. This distributed network will enable improved cellular coverage, capacity and data speeds for guests everyday but especially during peak event times. Wireless carriers are increasingly using indoor and outdoor distributed networks to provide high-quality signal coverage and capacity for crowds gathered at hotel facilities, conventions, business meetings or major national sporting events when demand on carrier networks jumps dramatically.

As with any DAS network built and operated by ExteNet, the service includes support by ExteNet’s Network Operations Center (NOC), which provides 24x7x365 monitoring of the network.

“We have worked with the Omni team at several of their hotels, and we once again look forward to delivering the high-quality cellular access that their guests expect at this luxury property,” said Ross Manire, ExteNet’s Chief Executive Officer. “The Omni Severin will be equipped to meet higher wireless capacity demands experienced during conventions and other big events well into the future.”
