Rapidly Increasing Number of Signatories of the President’s Climate Commitment Choose Aircuity to Achieve their Energy Conservation Goals

Ventilation Optimization Provides the Single Largest Energy Conservation Measure, Making it the Ideal Energy Efficiency Solution for Institutions

NEWTON, Mass.--()--Aircuity, the smart airside efficiency company, today announced that a growing number of signatories of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) are choosing Aircuity’s OptiNet® System to help them reach their goal of achieving climate neutrality on campus. Forty ACUPCC institutions across the nation have installed at least one OptiNet demand control ventilation (DCV) system, and this number is expected to increase with another 15% in growth of customers on the ACUPCC signatories list by the end of 2012. Optimizing a building's ventilation system is the single most impactful conservation method a campus can deploy and provides a quick return on investment, making it the ideal energy efficiency solution.

First created in October of 2006, the ACUPCC quickly grew to over 400 institutions in 2007 and currently boasts 674 members. Facilities managers, sustainability directors, and student organizations are tasked with creating a plan to include a variety of energy reduction and sustainability measures to achieve their institutions’ pledged goals. With proven success in energy reduction, colleges and universities in thirty-two states have chosen to work with Aircuity to achieve and exceed their sustainability goals.

Utilizing DCV technology, OptiNet’s multiplexed air monitoring system continuously senses and analyzes the building’s indoor environment and provides intelligent inputs to the building management systems. Based on this information, adjustments are made to the ventilation flow as needed, allowing the facility to optimize airflow in an efficient manner. Buildings are by far the largest producers of carbon emissions on campus, and installing the OptiNet system in such buildings as labs, auditoriums and lecture halls will enable institutions to significantly reduce their energy use and its associated carbon emissions.
