iNACOL Webinar on National Trends in Online and Blended Learning

Webinar Will Focus on Key Findings from 2011 Report on State Policy and Practices

VIENNA, Va.--()--The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) will provide a webinar giving an overview on the latest developments, policies and practices in online and blended learning throughout the United States highlighted in the recent publication, Keeping Pace with K-12 Online Learning by the Evergreen Education Group.

The webinar, which will present key findings from the 2011 annual report, Keeping Pace with K-12 Online Learning: An Annual Review of Policy and Practice, will include a discussion on state-by-state advancements in online and blended learning, online charter schools, district programs and state virtual schools.

“The 2011 Keeping Pace report shows that K-12 online and blended learning programs are evolving, with opportunities existing for at least some students in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia,” said Susan Patrick, President and CEO of iNACOL. “But there is still progress to be made, as no state has yet to implement a full suite of full-time and supplemental options for students at all grade levels in K-12 education.”

“The report further indicates that while K-12 online and blended learning continues to grow at a rapid pace on a national scale, the growth remains uneven, with constricted policy barriers hampering access for students, at the same time there are new policy developments in several states increasing access – so that student access varies depending upon district and state capabilities for growth and expansion of innovative educational programs,” said Patrick.

The webinar, which will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 2:00-3:00 PM Eastern, will be presented by John Watson, contributor to the Keeping Pace report and founder of the Evergreen Education Group, a Colorado-based policy research organization for education innovation through online learning.
