LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CompTIA, the non-profit trade association for the information technology (IT) industry, today announced the selection of a new executive leadership council to guide its UK Channel Community.
The CompTIA UK Channel Community was formed in early 2011 following the acquisition of Technology Channels Association (TCA). The community provides a platform for resellers, distributors and vendors to focus on developing best practices, business education and resources for companies engaged in the delivery of IT services in the UK.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome top-level executives from across the full spectrum of the UK IT channel to take on the challenges that are unique to the UK IT market,” said William Linard, CompTIA’s senior manager of member engagement in the UK.
Serving as chair of the executive council is Richard Tubb, an independent consultant who works with IT businesses to enable them to feel more in control and to grow their business. Tubb has worked in the IT industry for over 15 years and is the former owner of award winning Midland IT companies Netlink IT and JamesCash.co.uk.
Also beginning his second year on the council is vice chair Lee Evans, owner of IT business Vital Network Solutions Ltd. Evans is a technology and business professional with a wide range of practical grass roots technical expertise combined with a logical, honest approach to business.
New members of the executive council representing the IT solution provider community are Paul Tomlinson, managing director, Mirus IT, and Mark Williams, managing director, Pensar IT Management.
Representing IT distributors on the council are Andy Dow, sales and marketing director, Computer2000, and Les Billing, non exec director, HMD Electronics Ltd.
Jim Harrower, UK and Ireland sales manager, GFI MAX, and Gavin Whitaker, software technical channel manager EMEA UK, Hitachi Data Systems, represent the IT vendor community on the executive council.
The CompTIA UK Channel Community is an industry-driven group that offers UK technology companies an opportunity to address common concerns and pursue common goals through face-to-face and online networking opportunities, educational programs and the development of association funded and managed initiatives.
The community’s current member-driven initiatives include:
- Developing a UK-specific organisational credential or trustmark to help identify quality IT businesses within the UK.
- Localising the CompTIA Member Resource Centre for UK members.
- Building an online portal that acts as a one-stop information repository for all IT vendor partner and MDF programs
