LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) has been named Global Securities Lender of the Year by Fundamentals Magazine at the 2011 Securities Lending Industry Awards, held in London on 3 November 2011. The award follows Northern Trust’s success at Fundamentals 2010 awards, where the company was named Best Operations Lender.
The 2011 awards, hosted by Global Securities Lending (GSL), one of Fundamentals’ e-publications, aim to recognise excellence in the securities lending industry. Twenty six awards were presented, across four categories, and winners selected by votes from clients and service providers across the industry.
“We are delighted to recognise Northern Trust as a global leader in the securities lending industry,” said Mark Latham, executive editor at Fundamentals. “Northern Trust’s market expertise coupled with their innovative trading solutions enable them to help their clients manage the requirements of a changing regulatory and macro-economic environment.”
Fundamentals magazine, published by Investor Intelligence Ltd, is a quarterly publication for beneficial owners, fund managers and investors, combining editorial from both Investor Services Journal and Global Securities Lending magazines. This is the second year the Securities Lending Industry Awards have taken place.
“We are pleased to be named Global Lender of the Year,” said Sunil Daswani, head of client service for securities lending at Northern Trust. “We continue to see a steady demand for our customised securities lending programme which is designed to meet our clients’ specific risk and return requirements.”
