LEVALLOIS-PERRET, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oberthur Technologies, a global leader in the delivery of high security solutions announces today that the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) selected Oberthur Technologies to deliver highly secure and anti-counterfeiting electronic driving licences to Bangladeshis.
Oberthur Technologies emerged as the winner of a very thorough technical and financial bidding with Evolis and TigerIT.
Oberthur Technologies and TigerIT have been working hand in hand on this project to offer a biometric highly secure solution to the Bangladesh citizens. Oberthur Technologies will provide the smart cards while TigerIT will supply the enrolment solution, Oracle SOA based CMS, personalization system and the AFIS.
Driving licence cards supplied by Oberthur Technologies to the BRTA will be produced with a long life plastic composite based on PETF material and will include a high resolution colour photo of the driver, fingerprints, signature, among other data. It will also bear a large array of security features such as rainbow printing, guilloches, micro-text, colour-shifting ink, invisible UV fluorescent ink, etc. A demetalized hologram laminated on the card surface will offer additional security, as well as protection against aging and abrasion.
The personal information will be printed on the card and will also be stored inside an encrypted chip that can be verified and updated by BRTA officials.
“With this project, BRTA proves that Bangladesh is in the race to deploy a high level of security in public sectors that will put an end to fake licenses and illegal practices in license issuing.” commented Mr. Ayubur Rahman Khan, Additional Secretary and Chairman of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority.
