CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Clerity Solutions, a full-service provider of mainframe migration, modernization, and optimization solutions, announced today that Singapore Exchange (SGX) has chosen Clerity’s UniKix Mainframe Rehosting software and mainframe migration services for a $3 million USD modernization project. Clerity is migrating SGX’s entire mainframe complex, including key applications such as clearing and settlement, third-party tools and utilities, and server and storage resources to a flexible open systems environment.
In selecting Clerity, SGX highlighted Clerity’s proven services track record for managing complex migration projects and the robustness of its UniKix Mainframe Rehosting software as being equally important. Clerity has completed similar projects for other financial services industry leaders such as NYSE Euronext, SunGard and Equifax. The company’s UniKix technology, deployed in more than 50 countries, enables companies to lower annual operating costs up to 70 percent, while providing a flexible path forward for mission-critical mainframe application and data investments.
With a market capitalization of more than US$5 billion, SGX is among the world's largest exchanges and Asia's second largest listed exchange. Known as the “Asian gateway,” SGX is the market of choice for investors wanting to participate in Asia's rapidly growing economies, and for Asian issuers seeking international capital.
“SGX is constantly striving to improve our ability to respond to change with cutting-edge technology,” said Bob Caisley, chief information officer, Singapore Exchange. “Migrating off the mainframe with Clerity enables us to streamline IT operations and lower cost-per-transaction rates, while better preparing our organization to address future market growth.”
In addition to the UniKix Mainframe Rehosting software, SGX is using Veryant’s vCOBOL Enterprise software in the project to migrate SGX’s IBM CICS applications, batch JCL code, COBOL programs and VSAM data intact, using a mainframe rehosting approach that will avoid costly code changes and enable SGX clients to continue accessing its systems without reconfiguration. Veryant’s vCOBOL Enterprise is a powerful alternative to legacy COBOL dialects. It will be used at SGX to preserve migrated mainframe COBOL code and reduce costs without sacrificing performance or availability.
SGX offers the region's longest trading hours, so meeting the company’s narrow nightly batch window will be a critical success factor.
“Clerity was the only migration vendor that understood the complete picture, and could address the unique infrastructure and operational complexities of our IT environment,” continued Caisley. “Clerity’s end-to-end migration project methodology and dedicated team of technical solution experts gave us the confidence to move forward.”
“We are pleased to support Singapore Exchange with its business-critical mainframe migration project,” said Brandon Edenfield, president of Clerity. “Clerity's comprehensive solution approach and proven UniKix rehosting technology uniquely enables companies to realize the full potential of their existing IT investments."
Clerity migration experts recently completed a Migration and Modernization Assessment Process (MMAP) that provided SGX with a clear understanding of the full technical requirements and business impact of migrating from an IBM mainframe to open systems. The project is now entering the implementation phase and is on track to be completed in 2012.
