All Hands Volunteers Honored at Sixth Annual Convio Client Summit

All Hands Volunteers Recipient of Innovator Award in Best CRM Visionary/Use of Common Ground Category

BALTIMORE--()--Convio, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNVO) today presented All Hands Volunteers, a US-based volunteer-staffed nonprofit organization dedicated to timely disaster response and relief assistance, with an Innovator Award in the Best CRM Visionary/Use of Common Ground category for their segmentation efforts, creative communications, and innovative ways to capture prospect data. All award winners will be recognized at an event tonight at Convio’s Client Summit, the company’s annual user conference where more than 1,000 nonprofit clients, partners and industry thought leaders gather as a community to share common experiences and effective strategies for nonprofits.

“We feel very proud of our win,” said Andrew Kerr, development manager at All Hands Volunteers. “Our financial growth and streamlined internal processes have been a testament to our success, but having another organization—a third-party—recognize the work that we have done gives us reassurance that we are on the right track. This award motivates us to keep pushing and to be innovative and creative in everything we do.”

Before implementing Common Ground, All Hands Volunteers was storing data on donors and volunteers in three separate places. Without a central database to house key data, All Hands Volunteers struggled to communicate with each individual in a personalized way, based on their past involvement and interactions with the organization. These challenges were magnified by the organization’s growth.

Since consolidating its donor and volunteer data into Common Ground, All Hands Volunteers has created multiple fundraising and email campaigns that are customized to segments of their housefile. They test each campaign on a small group within the segment to see how the audience responds. If the response is favorable, then they scale the campaign to the entire segment. The organization is also incorporating videos—usually short footage of volunteers in the field—into its various campaigns. In marketing brochures, All Hands Volunteers has added Quick Response (QR) codes. Once scanned using an individual’s smart phone, a code links to a Convio sign-up form that captures the person’s information and adds it directly into Common Ground for future prospecting, either as a donor or volunteer.

Common Ground has helped All Hands Volunteers to build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with individuals, especially volunteers, through segmentation and personalization. Common Ground has also played an important part in growing the organization’s operating budget from $500,000 in 2009 to $2.7 million in 2011.

Six other nonprofits received Innovator Awards in categories including Best Overall Use of Convio, Best Integrated/Multichannel Campaign, Best Online Campaign, Best Peer-to-Peer Campaign, Best Team Event, and Best Use of New Media. All Convio clients were eligible to submit for the awards.

"The seven clients recognized this year epitomize innovation and are shining examples of true constituent engagement and how to maximize the value of every interaction they have with their supporters,” said Gene Austin, chief executive officer and president of Convio. “As the shift continues from traditional forms of engagement to a combination of traditional, digital and social channels, these organizations are on the front lines responding daily to the changing needs of donors, advocates, volunteers and anyone helping to advance their mission. We are proud to recognize their achievements and honored to support them in their continued success.”
