SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JMP Group Inc. (NYSE: JMP), an investment banking and alternative asset management firm, announced today that Shawn M. Severson has joined JMP Securities, JMP Group’s broker-dealer subsidiary, as a managing director and senior research analyst. Mr. Severson, who follows cleantech and industrial technologies, is based in the firm’s San Francisco headquarters.

Prior to joining JMP Securities, Mr. Severson was a managing director and senior research analyst at ThinkEquity Partners. He formerly served as a director and institutional salesperson in the London office of Robert W. Baird & Co., primarily covering global hedge funds and proprietary trading desks. For more than eight years, Mr. Severson was an equity research analyst at Raymond James, where he followed the IT supply chain and won repeated recognition in the “Best on the Street” survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal. He began his financial services career in an equity research role at Kemper Securities. Mr. Severson holds a BA in finance and economics from Augustana College.
