SUNNYVALE, Calif. & YOKNEAM, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MLNX) (TASE:MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced it has become a founding member of the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium. The UNH-IOL 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium is a new collaboration between UNH and industry members to address the new IEEE 802.3ba standard and develop industry-supported testing standards. The organization provides a neutral test environment and industry accepted test methodologies for the purpose of promoting and fostering conformance and interoperability of 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet products from different manufacturers.
As a founding member, Mellanox will help lay the foundation and shape the direction of the consortium. Mellanox, along with other founding member companies will enable critical testing services designed to identify and solve interoperability issues between different manufacturers’ devices and usher in a new wave of metrics used to evaluate and advance 40/100GbE technology. Initial testing services offered by the consortium will focus on Physical Layer test suites and interoperability.
“In all new technologies, repeated multi-vendor testing is imperative to speeding development as well as driving industry acceptance of the technology,” said Jeff Lapak, Senior Manager for the UNH-IOL. “Support from our 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium founding members, who are leading the market with these devices, is critical in shaping a robust testing regime that leads to interoperable products getting to the market quickly.”
“The UNH-IOL has Mellanox’s unwavering support. We are pleased to be a part of the consortium and contributing to the testing process that will yield valuable information on interoperability issues and serve as guide for the industry to further the 40 and 100Gb/s Ethernet ecosystem,” said David Barzilai, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox’s wide breadth of 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s Ethernet switch and adapter products are designed to deliver world-class performance, efficiency and scalability and meet the industry’s needs today and beyond.”
