Layer 7 Technologies Announces Support for VMware vCloud® API 1.5

CloudControl™ Expands its Support for Latest VMware vCloud® API

VMworld 2011

LAS VEGAS--()--Today at VMworld® 2011, Layer 7 Technologies, the leader in Gateways for service-oriented integration, cloud connectivity and Web-to-mobile information sharing, announced support for the new VMware vCloud® API in its CloudControl™ cloud broker product. Layer 7 was an early supporter of the VMware vCloud API and was among the first in the industry to partner with VMware to provide users with secure API abstraction, metering and management capabilities.

With this latest vCloud API support, Layer 7’s CloudControl provides vCloud users with industry-leading security and flexibility for managing vCloud API exposure. Layer 7 service provider customers employ CloudControl as a cloud-specific API Proxy. CloudControl enables abstracting, securing and managing cloud APIs. It simplifies control and operation of processes such as data validation; OAuth and SAML-based access control; REST, JSON and SOAP mappings; version management; and SLA enforcement through throttling and message prioritization in policy to make it repeatable and measurable.

“A large number of Layer 7 customers and prospects are embracing cloud and looking to VMware for their private and public cloud infrastructures,” said Jaime Ryan, partner solutions architect at Layer 7 Technologies. “The VMware vCloud® API is critical for integrating existing operation controls with VMware environments and enabling hybrid cloud use cases. Layer 7 gives customers the security, reusability and flexibility in managing how their VMware vCloud APIs get exposed internally and externally.”

“We have been working with Layer 7 for some time with its products to support the VMware vCloud API,” said Mathew Lodge, senior director, Cloud Services at VMware. “With version 1.5 of the VMware vCloud API, we are expanding the number of vCloud controls available to our partners and customers, programmatically opening up new use cases.”

Layer 7 will be showcasing a number of abstraction, metering and security vCloud API use cases at its VMworld booth, #1361.
