LUXEMBOURG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SES S.A. (Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) announces that the launch of its new satellite ASTRA 1N is scheduled for tonight, August 5, 2010. The satellite will be launched into space from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana on board an Ariane 5 ECA rocket between 23:53 and 1:08 am (August 5-6, 2011 Central European Summer Time).
ASTRA 1N was built by EADS Astrium in Toulouse using a Eurostar E3000 platform. The satellite offers 52 Ku-band transponders and will first provide interim capacity at 28.2° East. Subsequently it will be moved to 19.2° East, from where it will mainly serve the German, French and Spanish markets.
