SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ChartLogic Inc., a leading national provider of electronic health records (EHRs), announced today that 26 of its medical group customers in 19 states will qualify for meaningful use incentive payments and all are planning to complete the attestation process during the week of April 18th, the first period for filing.
According to Brad Melis, executive vice president of ChartLogic, “We have worked closely with many of our customers during the past four weeks. Using the CMS attestation worksheet distributed on March 28, it is clear that these practices will qualify for the incentives. All of them plan to complete the attestation process on April 18th or as soon as possible afterwards.”
Melis said, “We are proud of the fact that so many of our customers have qualified for meaningful use right out of the gate. There are many certified EHR products on the market. However, many physicians have found that it can be difficult to use their EHR on a routine basis, much less successfully meeting the high standards of the meaningful use rule.”
April 18 is the first day eligible physicians can attest (submit documentation) for meaningful use payments under the Medicare program. Eligible physicians in a dozen states began filing for the separate Medicaid program in January. The filing requirements for both programs are very similar and require that physicians show they are meeting a series of standards on collecting, storing and transmitting key patient data through their EHR.
Melis added that many of ChartLogic’s customers are small medical groups with a significant number in surgical subspecialties such as orthopedics, cardiology and ophthalmology. Historically, physicians in small medical groups have been slower to adopt EHRs than those in large medical groups.
Brenda Willet, practice manager for Ozark Mountain ENT of Branson, MO, a ChartLogic customer that is planning to file for meaningful use incentives, said, "ChartLogic has been very responsive to our needs throughout the meaningful use preparatory process. They helped us set up our practice to capture the needed information.”
The ChartLogic customers that have qualified for meaningful use include the following medical groups:
--West LA Hand Center, Santa Monica, CA
--Colorado Orthopedic &
Hand Surgery, Loveland, CO
--Associated Urologists, Manhattan, KS
--Reconstructive
Hand Surgeons of Indiana, Indianapolis, IN
--Steely Foot Clinic,
Dyersburg, TN
--Frederick Krause, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, San
Antonio, TX
