ooVoo Makes 3-Way Video Calling Free

Fastest Growing Communication App in the Industry Expands Free Service for New and Current Users

NEW YORK--()--ooVoo, the second largest video calling service in the world with 24 million users, officially launched free 3-way video calling for users to connect with family, friends and colleagues from smartphones, PCs and Macs. This “always free” service for up to three users was announced following a successful promotion that expanded the service from free 2-way calling capability.

“We listened closely to ooVoo users who have been asking for free expanded multi-point capability,” said Philippe Schwartz, CEO of ooVoo. “ooVoo continues to raise the bar in the fast-growing video chat category as we create competitive advantages over Skype that will bring more satisfied users to video calling powered by ooVoo.”

The cost of 3-way video calling with Skype is $8.99 per month. ooVoo’s free plan, with up to 3-way video calling, includes banner advertisements. ooVoo offers premium features with a 5-way plan called ooVoo Plus for $9.95 per month and a 6-way plan called ooVoo Pro for $29.95 (no advertising on paid plans).

ooVoo is averaging more than 1 million new registrations per month with nearly 50,000 new users every day in the first quarter of 2011. The company’s growth at the end of 2010 was fueled by a combination of factors including consumers and businesses looking for a higher quality alternative to Skype and the launch of ooVoo Mobile with free 6-way video chat on Android devices.

In February, Nielsen NetRatings showed ooVoo as the fastest growing communication app in the industry. The brand is attracting attention with advertisers in youth marketing as 62% of ooVoo users are under age 24 and 42% fall in the 18-34 age range. ooVoo’s 850,000 Facebook fans places it amongst the most “fanned” technology companies on Facebook.

In December, ooVoo launched the first 4G mobile video chat service that allows 6-way video chat without compromising call quality. This service works over Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G to simultaneously connect smartphone, PC and Mac users. Consumers and businesses can download ooVoo desktop and mobile applications at www.oovoo.com.
