Bal Seal to Connect with Czech Power Engineers, OEMs at ELECTRON 2011

Company's Exhibit will Feature Canted-coil Spring Contact Elements

ELECTRON 2011

PRAGUE--()--Bal Seal Engineering, Inc., a global provider of connecting, conducting and EMI shielding solutions for the energy industry, has announced that it will bring its Canted-coil™ spring technology to the Czech Republic for the upcoming ELECTRON trade fair, held April 12-14, 2011 at the Exhibition Centre Prague Letnany.

Supporting the ELECTRON event’s focus on renewable energy, Bal Seal will feature its Canted-coil™ spring electrical contacts which, according to the company, allow for greater design flexibility and better operational efficiency in wind and solar power generation equipment. Bal Seal says it will also seek “innovation partnerships” with manufacturers of switchgear and other equipment used in power transmission and distribution, with the goal of advancing technology in this area.

“We feel it’s very important for us to be there,” says Bal Seal European Market Manager Bart Hoevenaars of the ELECTRON fair. “The spring contacts we will be demonstrating are based on a simple, intelligent design, and their versatility and power density make them ideal for so many of the applications visitors will be seeing at this event. Whether in wind, solar, electric vehicle charging or solid insulated switchgear, our technology has the ability to improve performance, and that’s an exciting story we want to relate to this audience.”

Originally developed as an energizer for seals made from PTFE and other polymers, Bal Seal’s Canted-coil spring has been used as a connecting and conducting solution in energy applications for nearly a decade. The spring’s capacity to function as a high-performance electrical contact – and its inherent ability to compensate for misalignment caused by varying tolerances between contact surfaces – has led to its widespread use in equipment that carries and delivers electric power. More recently, the spring has been employed as a high current density contact in connector and generator components for wind and solar power. The versatile spring also functions as an EMI shielding/grounding element.

Bal Seal says its exhibit at ELECTRON will be located in Hall 1, Sector B, Stand 1B18. The company will use a mix of demonstration samples, interactive media and technical animations to illustrate the value of the Canted-coil™ spring. Many of the digital assets displayed in the booth, including segments on solutions for alternative energy and solutions for power transmission and distribution  are also available for viewing in the company’s online “media room” at http://mediaroom.balseal.com/vod
