HIGH POINT, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--North State Communications (NSC), the leading wireless and telecommunications provider in the Piedmont Triad region, announced today that the company is providing free, unlimited long distance and wireless calling and text messaging to Japan for residential customers seeking to reach friends and loved ones impacted by the recent earthquake and tsunami.
Retroactively beginning March 10th and extending through April 30th, North State residential long distance customers will be able to make free long distance calls to Japan from their fixed wireline connections. Additionally, the company is providing free unlimited long distance and text messaging to Japan for their wireless customers via their partnership with AT&T.
A billing rate of zero for calls and texts generated from the US, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands will be reflected on customers billing statements for this time period.
“The devastation is staggering, and we want customers who are in urgent need to connect with family and friends in the region to be able to do so as worry free as possible, “ said Royster Tucker III, COO, and North State Communications. “We hope this offers some measure of support to the friends and families of those affected by this terrible tragedy.”
Any of North State’s AT&T wireless customers who wish to make a $10 contribution to the relief effort may do so via their wireless phones by texting the word “REDCROSS” to 90999. The program has been established in conjunction with the American Red Cross by AT&T. The $10 donation will appear on the donors’ wireless bills, and will aid in providing relief to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and throughout the Pacific.
