SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LiveJournal, Inc., a community-centered journaling platform with more than 21 million users worldwide, is offering non-paying users an opportunity to try out a Paid Account with no cost or obligation. Basic and Plus users, who use the LiveJournal service free of charge, will be eligible to try out a Paid Account for two weeks in order to experience all of the premium features. Users can upgrade to a Paid Account during or after the trial ends for a couple of dollars per month and keep their new settings or revert back to their former account settings.
LiveJournal is an ad-supported social community platform that earns revenue in two ways: by delivering ads to non-paying users; and by selling account subscriptions to Paid users, the latter being more lucrative. LiveJournal Paid Accounts offer the following premium features:
- Ad-free environment
- Extra user icons (anywhere from 30 to 210 userpics)
- Hundreds of premium journal styles
- Ability to edit comments, create personal notes, and post polls
- More storage, LiveJournal stats, Google Analytics, voice posting, and more!
Seeing is Believing
“We have a strong retention rate among our Paid account users. Once users experience a LiveJournal Paid Account, they get hooked on the ad-free environment and begin to take advantage of the generous userpic allotment, exclusive journal styles, analytics, and more,” said Anjelika Petrochenko, General Manager of LiveJournal, U.S. “But it’s been challenging to explain the benefits of a Paid Account to our non-paying users. We believe that giving users a chance to test drive a Paid account will convince many that it’s well worth the cost of a couple of dollars per month. We look forward to expanding our Paid Account features to sweeten the offering even more.”
Free Paid Account Trial
LiveJournal launched the Free Paid Account Trial on March 1, 2011. At present, more than 90 percent of LiveJournal’s global users use the service without charge.
