IDC Hires Industry Veteran David McNally as IT Executive Advisor for IDC’s IT Executive Program

McNally to leverage 20-year career to provide CIOs personalized guidance on critical IT issues

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--International Data Corporation (IDC), the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets, today announced the appointment of David McNally as IT Executive Advisor within the IT Executive Programs (IEP), an exclusive family of research programs intended to help today's time-constrained IT executives make more effective technology decisions. In this role, David will leverage his 20-plus years of experience in technology to partner with participating CIOs and provide ongoing guidance and insight to assist with critical IT decision making.

The goal of IDC's IT Executive Program is to offer accurate and timely research that will assist IT executives in mitigating technology risks, maximizing the effectiveness of IT investments, identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities, and bringing forth solutions that are aligned with the organization's business objectives. Through IDC's strategic partnership with CIO Executive Council, members of the IT Executive Program not only gain exclusive access to IDC's team of more than 1,000 global analysts and IDC Insights industry-specific research, but also benefit from having access to the Council's global peer advisory community of 750 global enterprises and more than 1,400 IT leaders willing to share first hand experiences, best practices and lessons learned to help member CIOs accelerate the ability to drive business value. IDC and the CIO Executive Council community are supported by parent company, IDG, the world’s largest B-to-B media company offering members a global view of IT and access to exclusive resources to advance their business and expertise.

As IT Executive Advisor, David will leverage IDC's global analyst community and research to build customized content to address client's specific needs, helping to save participating CIOs time and resources. Through this ongoing relationship, clients will benefit from David's industry expertise and gain first hand insights into new and appropriate research to address their most pressing IT issues and support critical decision making.

In this role, David will bring his deep experience and connection to the CIO community to members. As former Global Chief Information Officer at Royal Ahold, a $40 billion food retailer, and CIO at US Foodservice, the second largest foodservice distributor in the U.S., David has been instrumental in creating compelling business strategies and executing successful business transformations, with a particular emphasis on the retail market. In this new role, David will leverage his expertise in strategic planning, retail, e-commerce, systems implementations, and business-to-IT relationship development to provide members customized feedback and guidance based on their specific needs and challenges.

"The Executive Technology Advantage Program provides a unique opportunity to partner with some of today's top CIOs and assist them with their most pressing IT challenges and engage in meaningful discussions around the value of IT to drive business," said David McNally, IT Executive Advisor, IDC. "I am thrilled to join the team in this role and leverage my experience and IDC's compelling research to make thoughtful recommendations to participating members on key IT decisions."

"The program was designed to deliver a highly customized experience giving CIOs and IT executives the tools needed to deliver on the strategic goals of their organizations. As such, David is an ideal candidate for the IT Executive Advisor position based on his extensive and successful career in IT," said Meredith Whalen, Senior Vice President, IDC. "We are thrilled to welcome him to the team and are confident members will greatly benefit from his valuable contributions to this program."
