RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that General H. Hugh Shelton (U.S. Army Retired), chairman of Red Hat's board of directors and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will present during an opensource.com “Open Your World” webinar. Shelton will reflect on his nearly four-decade military career and how his experiences in the armed services shared many of the same principles as the open source way.
Shelton served two terms as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking military officer in the United States armed forces and the principal military advisor to the President of the United States. Throughout his service career, Shelton saw the broad application of open source principles within the military such as meritocracy, rapid prototyping, transparency, sharing, authenticity and many others. He will discuss these examples and more during the webinar, including several which are chronicled in his recently published autobiography, Without Hesitation: The Odyssey of an American Warrior.
