LOS ANGELES--()--AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is proud to announce that the current “Are You a Ke$ha Superfan?” contest, sponsored by American Top 40 radio personality Ryan Seacrest, features one of the Foundation’s popular and award-winning “Out of the Closet” Thrift Store locations. Participants can enter to win round-trip airline tickets to Los Angeles, a two-night hotel stay, tickets to see Ke$ha perform at her sold-out concert at the world-famous Hollywood Palladium on May 6th and the opportunity to go on a vintage shopping trip with the singer at “Out of the Closet” Thrift Store on Sunset Blvd. across the street from the Palladium earlier that day. The deadline for entry is this Sunday, February 13th.

“Out of the Closet” is a chain of twenty-one thrift stores located in Northern California, Southern California and South Florida. The stores are owned and operated by AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the largest global AIDS organization, which currently provides medical care and services to more than 150,000 individuals in 26 countries worldwide in the US, Africa, Latin America/Caribbean, the Asia/Pacific region and Eastern Europe.

"We want to thank Ke$ha for choosing ‘Out of the Closet’ Thrift Stores and for supporting the work we do,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “Ninety-six cents of every dollar earned through sales at ‘Out of the Closet’ goes into the care and treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S. and around the globe. This contest promotion will go a long way toward educating the public about an easy and fun way to make a lifesaving difference—by donating to and shopping at their local ‘Out of the Closet’ store.”

In addition to books, antiques, children’s, men’s and women’s clothing and vintage treasures, AHF’s “Out of the Closet” stores frequently benefit from proximity to, and the generosity of donations from, numerous Hollywood celebrities including Elizabeth Taylor, Carol Burnett and Ellen DeGeneres as well as film and television production companies. In the past, such high profile thrift store donations have included props and clothing from Director Tim Burton’s film Mars Attacks!, items from Selena, the film biography on the late Tejana superstar, and clothing and shoes from the former ABC-TV sitcom, Grace Under Fire. HBO generously donated costumes, props and set pieces from the popular TV show Six Feet Under to ‘Out of the Closet’ when the show ended its run in 2005.

Several “Out of the Closet” Thrift Stores offer free HIV testing and counseling. These testing and outreach services are part of AHF’s Public Health Division which offers mobile HIV testing and counseling services, non-traditional venue HIV and STD (sexually-transmitted disease) testing, partner counseling and referral services, as well as other community-based prevention and testing services.

Another way to support the work that AIDS Healthcare Foundation does around the world is to register and vote for AHF to win $200,000 through the American Express Members Project. Participants can vote weekly until Sunday February 20th to help AHF reach even more people with its lifesaving services.
