INTECH Announces the Hiring of Danny Meidan, Ph.D., as Vice President, Senior Investment Officer

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--()--INTECH Investment Management LLC (INTECH) announced today that Danny Meidan, Ph.D., has joined the firm as Vice President, Senior Investment Officer effective January 18, 2011. Based out of INTECH’s West Palm Beach, Florida global headquarters, Dr. Meidan will supervise the firm’s Florida research team. He will also be working with INTECH’s clients and consultants to further their understanding of the firm’s investment philosophy, process and products. Additionally, Dr. Meidan will be collaborating with INTECH’s Princeton-based research team on research projects related to its mathematical investment theory.

Dr. Meidan joins INTECH from Menta Capital (San Francisco), where he was a Senior Quantitative Researcher working on generating and back-testing new quantitative trading ideas for a hedge fund investing globally in several market neutral equity strategies. Prior to that, he worked at Barclays Global Investors (BGI; San Francisco), now BlackRock, where he was a Principal, Portfolio Manager/Researcher, with a focus on U.S. large-cap active equity management. While at BGI, he was responsible for the management and research agendas of a $2 billion U.S. large-cap, mid-horizon strategy and a $100 million long/short strategy based on U.S. sector timing. In this role, he was responsible for monitoring portfolio holdings and portfolio rebalancing, and signal exposure and performance. Additionally Dr. Meidan developed and tested new quantitative trading ideas, wrote research reports in connection with the signal approval process, and provided oversight and guidance to other researchers. Dr. Meidan was also a Lecturer in Finance at Northwestern University and UC Davis, where he taught corporate finance to undergraduate and M.B.A. students, respectively. Prior to commencing his Doctoral studies, Dr. Meidan was Vice President in the Technology Investment Banking Group at Friedman Billings Ramsey (Arlington, VA).

Dr. Meidan earned his Ph.D. in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management (Evanston, Illinois), his Master of Business Administration from Washington University (St. Louis) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel).
