ZHU HAI CITY, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--From May, 17th to 18th in 2019, “China-ASEAN Center for Joint Research and Promotion of Marine Aquaculture Technology” and “China Seaweed Base for International Science & Technology Cooperation” established by Sun Yat-sen University and Ocean University of China held the Development of China-ASEAN Mariculture Industry Development Forum and “Seaweed Cooperation Workshop” in Zhuhai, China.
39 international representatives from 28 bodies that from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and other ASEAN countries and International organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), ASEAN Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN), Asia-Pacific Aquaculture Center Network (NACA), and more than 300 representatives from 100 educational, scientific and corporation units in China attended this conference.
Representatives from Indonesian Seaweed Association, Jenderal Soedirman University, Diponegoro University, Bogor Agricultural University (Indonesia), Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), University of the Philippines Visayas, NACA, University of Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Marine Aquaculture Research and Development Center, Department of Aquaculture Development, Fisheries Administration (Cambodia), Sun Yat-sen University (China) and Ocean University of China attended the seaweed cooperation workshop. At the meeting, the current situation and development tendency of mariculture development in China and ASEAN was discussed, and the “Declaration on Seaweed Cooperation” was jointly launched, which laid a solid foundation for further promoting China-ASEAN cooperation in areas such as seaweed, especially in the joint laboratory construction, science and technology cooperation, talent training, technology demonstration and industrial cooperation.
