Thirlby Clinic provides quality, patient-centered internal and family medicine care services to people in and around Traverse City, Michigan. It offers convenient same-day visits, pharmacist services, coordinated care management, and in-house lab services to improve healthcare access. The clinic undertook an initiative with eClinicalWorks revenue-cycle management (RCM) that helped it identify how it could streamline billing workflow and improve efficiency. The practice witnessed significant results within the first quarter of implementing healow Statements and healow Text2Pay.

“We discovered that almost 40-50% of our patients were using credit cards for payments, making healow Text2Pay an appealing option,” said Jamie Schichtel, practice manager at Thirlby Clinic. “This change has provided many of our patients with more options to securely pay right away through text, saving us a significant amount of money on paper statements and follow-ups. eClinicalWorks prioritizes innovative technology and makes processes easier on patients and providers, alleviating stress and administrative burdens. Some of our providers have also started utilizing Sunoh.ai to streamline clinical documentation. Overall, we are happy with the positive impact healow and Sunoh have had on our practice.”

Thirlby Clinic utilizes the following solutions to increase operational efficiency and improve patient engagement:

  • healow Pay: Since implementing healow Pay in March 2024, the practice has already witnessed an 18% increase in total patient payment collections for Q2 2024 compared to Q2 2023. The online billing solution allows patients to pay their medical bills via text, email, or online. Patients also find healow Pay easy to use, making it mutually beneficial for patients and providers.
  • Sunoh.ai: AI medical scribe Sunoh.ai is designed to summarize patient-provider conversations into structured clinical documentation. It creates a visit summary that can be easily reviewed and edited by the provider. Sunoh.ai saves time spent on documentation, reduces errors, and improves documentation efficiency and quality, fostering enhanced patient engagement and care.

"At eClinicalWorks, we develop solutions to reduce the administrative burdens of medical professionals, allowing them to focus better on providing quality patient care,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “Solutions like healow Pay allow patients to conveniently pay any pending balance while assisting the healthcare practice to automate the task, ensuring timely payments and boosting revenue.”
