The Standard Employee Giving Program Contributes Nearly $6 Million to Nonprofits and Schools

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In 2024, more than 1,700 employees at Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) donated more than $2 million through the company’s employee giving program — Employee Giving 365 — benefiting 2,739 schools and nonprofit organizations across the nation. After a dollar-for-dollar match from both The Standard and its parent organization Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, donations through the program in 2024 totaled nearly $6 million.

“At The Standard, one of our core values is caring about people,” said Dan McMillan, president and CEO. “Employees bring that caring to work every day and continue to express it outside of work, generously supporting the nonprofits and schools that enrich our communities. I am grateful to work with so many who are committed to making a real difference across the country.”

EG365 allows employees the flexibility to donate to nonprofits and schools throughout the year and get the double match for contributions up to $5,000 and 10 organizations. The top 10 recipients of funding through the 2024 EG365 are:

  • Oregon Food Bank
  • Trillium Family Services
  • Central City Concern
  • Oregon Humane Society
  • Luther College
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington
  • Oregon Public Broadcasting
  • St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
  • Lines for Life
  • NAMI National

Employee Giving Community Fund

During the 2024 EG365, The Standard also celebrated the 18th anniversary of the Employee Giving Community Fund program. The EGCF, formerly named Denim Impact Fund and Jeans Days, makes a big difference by pooling employee donations and the double match to benefit select nonprofit partners focused on some of the issues that matter most in our communities.

In 2024, more than $168,000 was raised through the EGCF program for these nonprofit partners that offer programs and services including crisis intervention for those struggling with homelessness and behavioral health issues:

  • Avivo (Minnesota)
  • Central City Concern (Oregon)
  • Community Solutions (national)
  • Lifting Up Westchester (New York)
  • Miriam’s House (Virginia)
  • Shelterhouse (Ohio)
