Eye Health America Expands into Central Georgia with the Acquisition of Eye Center of Central Georgia
MACON, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eye Health America (EHA), a prominent integrated eye care provider in the Southeastern United States, is pleased to announce its partnership with the Eye Center of Central Georgia (ECCG) today. This represents EHA’s 30th partnership and 14th Ambulatory Surgery Center strengthening its footprint in Georgia, adding to its established practices in Columbus (West Georgia Eye Care Center) and Augusta (Southeast Retina Center). Through this expansion, Eye Health America will offer comprehensive vision services to the Macon and Warner Robins, GA communities, further reinforcing its mission of “making lives better with personalized eyecare.”
Established in 1965, Dr. Fleetwood Maddox joined Dr. Braswell Collins followed by Dr. John Page in 1969 and Dr. L. E. Brown in 1974 when Dr. Collins retired. Together, the three ophthalmologists Dr. Fleetwood Maddox, L.E. Brown, and Dr. John Page, formed Eye Center of Central Georgia and built a legacy of excellence which today is led by Malcolm “Sid” Moore Jr., MD, Spencer “Chip” Maddox, MD, and John Ervin, MD, and Bill Taylor, OD. With a focus on delivering exceptional service, ECCG is known for its commitment to treating patients of all ages offering comprehensive medical, surgical and routine vision care.
“What a pleasure to welcome this Macon eyecare legacy practice to the Eye Health America family,” said Mary Lou Parisi, Co-CEO of Eye Health America. “This partnership provides an opportunity to extend our best-in-class care to the patients across central Georgia building on the great reputation and history of this practice. We look forward to supporting this most dedicated team.”
For more than 50 years, Eye Center of Central Georgia has been a leader in the field, opening the first private Ophthalmic Ambulatory Surgery Center (CON) in Georgia in 1985. This practice is known for its expertise in cataract surgery, particularly the use of advanced technology lenses to maximize patient independence from glasses. ECCG also offers a wide range of ophthalmic care and subspecialty services, including refractive cataract, cornea, oculoplastic, pediatric, and glaucoma surgery, medical and wellness care, contact lenses, optical and more.
“The decision to join Eye Health America allows us to continue our tradition of providing the highest standard of eye care to our community,” said Dr. Malcolm “Sid” Moore, physician at Eye Center of Central Georgia and Legislative Chair of both the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the Georgia Society of Ambulatory Surgery Centers. “With Eye Health America’s resources and support, we’re excited to expand our care to more patients in need across Central Georgia.”
This partnership aligns with Eye Health America’s ongoing strategy to grow its network of leading eye care providers in the Southeastern United States. “The acquisition of Eye Center of Central Georgia adds another prestigious practice to EHA’s growing portfolio and allows our organization to provide more patient-centered eye care to Georgians,” added John Swencki, Co-CEO of EHA.
