WALWORTH, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mecum Kissimmee 2025 is set to feature an awe-inspiring lineup of 4,500 classic and collector vehicles all to be auctioned live in an action-packed, fast-paced format this Jan. 7-19 at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. Since its inauguration in 1999, The World's Largest Collector Car Auction®, Mecum Kissimmee, has grown to attract consignors, bidders and enthusiastic spectators from all 50 states and several countries across the globe. Now, 26 years later, the event will see its biggest turnout yet, the return of the Dodge Thrill Ride, and a new kid-friendly activity area called The Adventure Zone. Mecum Kissimmee 2025 will be broadcast live on MotorTrendTV and Max, with 38 hours of live coverage over six of the 13 auction days.
Headlining The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction® are two stars of the big screen: Steve McQueen’s 1969 Porsche 917K (Lot S237) from the film “Le Mans” and Austin Powers' very own 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (Lot S258), known as the “Shaguar.” These two iconic cars will cross the block on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The Porsche 917K is arguably the single most well-known race car of all time and was both driven and purchased new by one of history’s most notable actors, Steve McQueen, making the car a legendary star on and off the big screen. From an entirely different genre of Hollywood’s finest, the Shaguar was famously piloted by one of the most recognizable characters in movie history: the international spy Austin Powers. With its Union Jack livery and iconic Shaguar branding, the Kissimmee-bound E-Type was the only one created and used in the filming of all three Austin Powers movies, meaning this swaggy vehicle is another certifiable one-of-one car.
The Kissimmee 2025 auction marks an exciting return after a sweeping success in 2024, with last year’s auction featuring 4,383 vehicles and reaching $275 million in total sales, becoming the third consecutive year that the event exceeded $200 million. A total of 13 vehicles sold for seven-figure prices, with top-selling lots including a 2004 Ferrari Enzo, a 1966 Ford GT40 MkI Road Car, and, the top seller, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder that sold for $17.875 million—the most valuable car ever sold by Mecum Auctions.
With ever-growing attendance and enthusiasts of all ages in mind, Mecum Kissimmee 2025 will offer more than big sales and double-digit acres of vehicles on display. Varied cuisine from local food trucks, special guests on the Mecum Stage and youth activities including Junior Auctioneering, Power Wheels parades and more in the all-new kid-friendly Adventure Zone are also part of the experience.
Kissimmee 2025 will also feature a selection of race cars driven by some of the biggest names in racing, all of which will be available for bids. One of the most notable among the group is the first Porsche 910 produced; with chassis number 910-001, this extremely rare 1966 Porsche (Lot S265.1) was driven by three-time Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda at the 1969 Österreichring 1000-kilometer race. Not to be outshone, a 1966 Lola T90 Ford Indy Car (Lot S152) with race-winning provenance and driven by Jackie Stewart, another three-time Formula 1 World Champion, will also be speeding to the Kissimmee auction block this January.
Charitable missions are another important part of the Mecum Kissimmee auction, and Sunbelt Rentals donated a Chip Foose-customized 2023 Camaro with a Chip Foose-designed exterior graphic with all sale proceeds to benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation. The Foundation works to honor our nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build communities. Boasting plenty of power to serve the mission, the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible (Lot S149) packs a 6.2L LT4 supercharged V-8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission.
More than 40 private car collections will cross the block in Kissimmee totaling more than 2,000 lots and ranging from timeless classics to modern muscle. Headlining selections include From the Jackie and Gary Runyon Collection, The Apex Collection and RVM Classics, to name a few. Each assemblage is a showcase of automotive history and a reflection of the evolution of the industry. Notable collection offerings include the famous 1932 Ford Tommy Foster Roadster (Lot F216), A.J. Foyt’s 1959 Kurtis-Epperly Offenhauser Indy Car (Lot S151) and Mario Andretti’s Road America- and Las Vegas-winning 1983 Lola T700 Cosworth Indy Car (Lot S153).
In addition to the thousands of cars and motorcycles crossing the block, more than 1,000 pieces of Road Art® and automobilia will be auctioned off during the event as well. The RVM Classics collection will feature 150 pieces, including a Gilmore Kiddie Ride (Lot Z764), a Shell Wayne Clock Face Gas Pump (Lot Z755), a Ford Mercury Single-Sided Porcelain Neon Sign (Lot Z775) and many more. The Rusted Restoration Collection will present 348 pieces, starring a Frontenac Red Indian Gasoline Double-Sided Porcelain Sign (Lot Y72) and a Pepsi-Cola UFO Spinning Advertisement (Lot Y84).
The Road Art® auction will start at 9 a.m. on Jan. 7-15 and Jan. 19, and at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 16-18, and continue until the cars begin crossing the block; Monday, Jan. 13, will feature a special extended, half-day segment of Road Art® offerings.
Amidst all the action, the Mecum Midway Stage will be home to “Mecum in the Morning,” a daily show co-hosted by Mecum’s own Breeann Poland and Matt Avery. The show will include scheduled interviews with Steve McQueen’s grandson, Chase McQueen, along with “Gulf 917” author Jay Gillotti and notable podcast host Brendan Schaub. Avery will also conduct interviews with various special guests about vehicles and collections crossing the auction block.
