WellTheory Launches Women’s Health Program to Address Link Between Autoimmune Disease and Hormonal Imbalances

Leading Chronic Disease Care Platform Will Now Support Women Struggling with Hypothyroidism, PCOS, Endometriosis, Menopause and More

ATHERTON, Calif.--()--WellTheory, a first-of-its-kind virtual solution for the 50 million Americans suffering with autoimmune disease, today announced the launch of its women’s health program geared towards those struggling with hormonal conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, postpartum, hypothyroidism, perimenopause, menopause, and more. The program will support women navigating the bidirectional link between autoimmune disease and hormone imbalances.

Of the more than 50 million Americans who suffer from an autoimmune disease, eighty percent are women, with certain conditions being 16 times more common. Hormonal imbalances play a significant role in the development and progression of autoimmune diseases, with research showing that hormones regulate immune system function, and disruptions in hormonal balance can trigger or worsen autoimmune conditions. Given that, the onset of autoimmune disease often occurs during major hormonal shifts in a woman’s life—such as puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause—when hormonal fluctuations impact immune system activity.

Recognizing this disparity, WellTheory created its program to help alleviate symptoms often associated with hormonal imbalances. Though WellTheory’s proprietary care model built on over a decade of clinical evidence, its female members have already seen increased energy, improved muscle strength, reduced anxiety, improved digestion, better sleep, and more stable moods. Now with this program, the company will offer women whole-body care that aims to reduce symptoms, improve quality of life, and lower costs.

“As a woman who began suffering with an autoimmune disease in my mid-20’s, who went on to learn that multiple hormonal issues were one of the root causes of my diagnosis, it was important to create a program aimed at helping other women navigate this oftentimes long and frustrating journey to get find solutions,” said Ellen Rudolph, CEO and Co-Founder of WellTheory. “As women’s health remains underfunded and overlooked, WellTheory is dedicated to bringing much needed attention and personalized support to those struggling most and will continue to be at the forefront of working to reverse the autoimmune epidemic — which goes hand in hand with the women’s health crisis.”

Women make up 71 percent of WellTheory’s patient population and of that, over 30 percent struggle with hormonal-related conditions in addition to their autoimmune disease. By combining 360° care with clinically-backed nutritional interventions, WellTheory’s programs help its female patients effectively manage, and in some cases, significantly relieve, the symptoms associated with both autoimmune conditions and hormonal imbalances.
