DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MGA Homecare (“MGA”), a leading provider of home and community-based physical and behavioral health services today announced the acquisition of Ward Road Pharmacy (“WRP”), a Long Term Care Pharmacy (LTCP) & Home Medical Supply (HMS) company based in Arvada, CO. The partnership strengthens MGA’s ability to meet the needs of medically complex patients by offering enhanced pharmacy services, medical supplies, and coordinated care solutions. WRP provides:
- Long Term Pharmacy at Home (LTCPH) to medically complex physical and behavioral health patients; including individuals with developmental disabilities
- Home Medical Supplies (HMS) such as enteral formula and pumps, tracheostomy supplies, incontinence products and wound care supplies
- Compounding Pharmacy Services for customized medication needs
- Child Health Nutrition, including elemental and specialty formula options
The addition of WRP comes in response to growing demand from MGA’s patient base of 3,300 individuals in Colorado and more than 5,500 patients served daily across MGA’s six-state footprint.
“This partnership was born by listening to our patients and families, who voiced frustration about inconsistent access to medications and supplies. MGA and WRP are proud to answer that call, bringing healthcare home and improving the quality of life for those we serve," said Brad Bennett, chief executive officer of MGA.
A Strategic Platform for Improved Outcomes
The addition of WRP provides MGA with a platform to:
- Reduce adverse drug interactions among medically complex patients, minimizing preventable emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and avoidable healthcare costs.
- Enhance access to care for rural, remote, and underserved populations.
- Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and those requiring medication-assisted treatments.
- Partner with payers and health plans to improve HEDIS scores, Star Ratings, and other quality measures.
Lance Barnard, CEO and owner of WRP, will remain in his leadership role while spearheading the national expansion of MGA’s Long-Term Care Pharmacy and Home Medical Supply division.
“Our team at WRP could not be more thrilled to lock arms with the MGA team to create the first healthcare organization in the State of Colorado capable of delivering every level of care in the home, as well as delivering nearly every type of medical supply and medication required by medically and behaviorally complex patients,” said Barnard. “We are equally excited by the opportunity we have to take our combined patient-centered model across the nation.”
Alexandra Koloskus, chief legal officer at MGA, added, “MGA is thrilled to align with Colorado’s commitment to community-focused care, and to empower individuals and their support systems to thrive independently in their homes and communities. The path to higher quality and less expensive healthcare for all must begin by placing the patient in the center, then building highly coordinated, and integrated models of care that drive partnership and alignment between patients/families, payers/health plans, our direct care workforce, and providers alike.”
Edge Healthcare Partners served as the exclusive financial advisor and ArentFox Schiff served as legal advisor to MGA.
