ALC’s Flexible Financing Approach For Rural Hospital Gets Federal Approval

IRVINE, Calif.--()--American Lending Center has received approval from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency for visa-based investors to help finance a new critical care hospital in rural Missouri.

Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany, Missouri, now qualifies under the newly created USCIS public infrastructure category by creating a sufficient number of construction and permanent jobs. With USCIS approval, Harrison Hospital is not only a designated Infrastructure project, the third such designated project for ALC, but it is also the first approval for an infrastructure project which is located in a USCIS-designated rural area — marking this project as a first of its kind.

“This milestone is particularly exciting because it furthers our goal of improving rural health care,” said Scott Thompson, ALC Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. “We hope this will be the first of many projects to come that add this flexibility to financing packages.”

Harrison County Community Hospital has been identified by the federal government as a Critical Access Hospital. It replaces another 1955 hospital, this one with fewer than 20 beds and no room for expansion.

Bethany is a small town between Kansas City, Mo. and Des Moines, Iowa. Construction began in May, creating 450 jobs. Hospital officials said the aim is to complete construction by spring 2025.

The public Harrison County Hospital District was formed in 1990 and took over hospital operations in 1991. It now operates medical clinics in Bethany and nearby Eagleville.
