LANSING, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jackson National Life Insurance Company® (Jackson®), the main operating subsidiary of Jackson Financial Inc.1 (NYSE: JXN), today announced it has awarded more than $750,000 to nonprofits serving the communities where Jackson has offices: Lansing, Michigan; Nashville, Tennessee; and Chicago, Illinois. These funds will support grant recipients in a variety of ways, including support for people experiencing homelessness; preservation of a historic neighborhood with affordable homeownership opportunities; and increased access to quality employment and financial stability.
“Jackson supports our communities by investing time, experience and money with partners who positively impact the places we call home,” said Danielle Robinson, Vice President, Corporate Communications and Responsibility at Jackson. “In alignment with our corporate purpose, our approach to supporting nonprofits strengthens families in need, creates economic opportunities for individuals and ultimately supports financial well-being. Our bi-annual grants program is one important way the company illustrates its commitment to invest philanthropic dollars with deserving nonprofits.”
Among the grant recipients in the Lansing area is City Rescue Mission, which is dedicated to meeting the physical needs of homeless men, women and children in Michigan’s Capital-area region. Established in 1911, the organization serves an average of 365 meals each day, houses 244 people each evening and in 2023 helped more than 2,300 community members. This year, the Mission is funding an expansion project to increase its service reach by renovating two former office buildings to include dorm rooms, a warming kitchen and cafeteria. Additionally, the renovations will connect the two buildings and provide state-of-the art bathroom and shower facilities to accommodate hundreds of individuals.
“We are so grateful not only for this generous gift but also for the many volunteer hours filled by faithful Jackson staff and their families,” said Mark Criss, Executive Director at City Rescue Mission. “Together, we can make a positive and lasting impact in our communities.”
Jackson is also honored to support several Nashville-area nonprofits, including Hard Bargain Association (HBA) which works to restore and rebuild the historic Hard Bargain neighborhood of Franklin, TN, established 130 years ago. HBA repairs existing homes and offers quality, affordable homes for purchase to people who have not been able to attain the dream of home ownership. HBA’s goal is to transform the Hard Bargain neighborhood into a diverse and vibrant community to be proud of for generations to come.
“We are incredibly grateful to partner with Jackson to further our mission of providing high-quality affordable housing to low- and moderate-income families,” said Derrick L. Solomon, Executive Director at Hard Bargain Association. “This generous contribution will be instrumental in funding the critical infrastructure for our next two single-family homes, specifically designed for a single mother of four with a special-needs child and a Williamson County sanitation engineer. We couldn't achieve our mission without this support.”
In Chicago, Jackson’s grants will support several organizations, including Cara Collective which works to build an inclusive economy by developing employment pathways to advance transformative individual and community success. Since 1991, the organization has helped participants increase their employability and employers advance toward equity and inclusion through education, encouragement and access to resources.
“Cara Collective is honored to be part of this generous investment from our friends at Jackson,” said Kathleen St. Louis Caliento, President and CEO at Cara Collective. “This gift is an acknowledgment of our shared vision to drive positive change and will help us achieve our goals to expand our reach, deepen our presence in the communities we serve and impact the lives of thousands more job seekers in Chicago and beyond.”
Jackson’s biannual grant program is a critical component of its corporate philanthropy efforts. Nonprofit organizations in the Lansing, Chicago or Nashville areas interested in applying for a grant from Jackson are encouraged to submit an application for consideration by visiting the company’s website. Jackson has contributed more than $85 million to nonprofits since 2007 and Jackson associates volunteered nearly 21,000 hours in 2023 with nonprofits nationwide.
