DEVON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--L2 Capital is pleased to announce the addition of three distinguished independent board members to the Board of Directors of its portfolio company, Robbins Sports Surfaces, Inc. (“Robbins”). The appointments underscore Robbins’ commitment to advancing its strategic initiatives in the sports and performing arts markets.
The new board members—Barry Hughson, Thomas Trojian, and John Shiver—bring decades of leadership and expertise across dance and performing arts, sports medicine, and architecture. Their collective experience will support Robbins’ focus on product innovation, athlete safety, and expanding its market presence.
Barry Hughson has dedicated his life to the arts, beginning as a professional dancer with the Washington Ballet before moving into executive leadership roles at prestigious ballet companies. His achievements include stabilizing finances, enhancing international profiles, and expanding audiences at institutions such as the Boston Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.
Thomas Trojian is a leader in sports medicine, specializing in injury prevention and safety. Beginning his career as the Sports Medicine Physician for the UConn Women’s Basketball Team, Thomas has contributed to multiple studies on ACL injury prevention and has held board positions at major U.S. sports medicine organizations. His tenure at the Osteo Arthritis Association included serving as Chair of the Board, where he advanced sports trauma research. At Drexel University, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Athletics and led injury prevention initiatives. Currently, he oversees dance and club sports programs at Temple University, continuing his lifelong dedication to athlete safety.
John Shiver is the Director of Education Practice and Associate Principal at GFF, a boutique architectural firm in Texas known for its work with elite private schools and educational institutions. With over four decades of experience, John’s career has focused on designing safe, high-quality educational spaces. His previous role as Principal at PBK involved leading significant projects in Dallas and Fort Worth. John has advocated for improved gym and practice facility specifications to enhance athlete safety and has recommended Robbins’ products for their superior quality and focus on joint protection.
