KUWANA, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kuwana City announces that it hosted “Global Festa 2024” at Kuwana Media Live on Saturday, November 30th. There were over 180 participants, consisting of both Japanese and non-Japanese families. Various confectioneries were offered including “Yasunaga mochi,” a specialty of Kuwana, and local confectioneries of non-Japanese residents of Kuwana city. Other highlights included displays of traditional clothes, games and activities from around the world, country flags coloring activity, and quiz competition promoting multicultural conviviality.
Kuwana city is located 20 minutes by train from Nagoya, which is one of the three largest metropolitan areas in Japan. Situated at the mouth of the Three Kiso Rivers, (Kiso river, Ibi river, and Nagara river) it has been gaining popularity by foreign visitors in recent years as a scenic city with various tourist attractions, including food culture such as Hamaguri clams and Japanese Black, “ROKKAEN,” a distinctive building designated as an important cultural property, and Ishidori Matsuri, known as the loudest festival in Japan.
With the increase of the number of foreign residents, Kuwana city has been taking initiatives to become a “Foreigner-Friendly City.” This includes the “Concierge Service for Foreign Residents” opened this June in the city hall to provide support, such as daily life consultations, in multiple languages. The “Global Festa 2024” was also held as one of the city’s initiatives to promote multicultural conviviality.
