Greenlight Brings Parents Extra Peace of Mind with New Real-Time Place Alerts and Location Sharing

Greenlight Infinity plan now includes a full suite of family finance and safety features from its award-winning debit card and banking app to location sharing and driving safety tools

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Greenlight®, the award-winning money and safety app for families, today announced the launch of industry-leading, real-time place alerts and location sharing designed to give parents peace of mind by keeping them informed about their kids’ locations. Place alerts, which share updates like when kids leave school or arrive home, are now included in the Greenlight Infinity plan, offering families the most comprehensive family finance and safety solution in one app.

Greenlight’s award-winning debit card and banking app have helped more than 6.5 million parents and kids manage family finances safely while learning critical financial skills like how to earn, save, spend wisely and invest. The Greenlight Infinity plan now gives families everything they need to securely manage money while staying safe and connected.

As kids and teens grow in their independence, they spend more time away from home, introducing new challenges for parents to stay in the know. With Greenlight, parents can easily stay up to date — from a place alert their child has left home for school, a driving safety score for the bus ride, a notification of a lunch time purchase, and finally, a place alert that their child has returned home.

Greenlight’s real-time place alerts offer families an easy, convenient way to stay informed about kids’ locations for extra peace of mind. Using the Greenlight app, parents receive notifications when kids arrive and leave locations so they can stay connected on the go. Key features include:

  • Custom Place Alerts: Parents can select places like home, school, or a friend’s house and customize a geofenced radius between 50 and 5,000 feet around each location to ensure they receive notifications at the right time.
  • Public Place Alerts: Publicly listed places, like parks, malls, movies, or restaurants are pre-programmed in the Greenlight app so parents can easily stay in the loop without creating additional custom places.
  • Emergency Place Alerts: For extra peace of mind, emergency place alerts are automatically set up so parents are notified if their child arrives at a hospital or police station.*

“At Greenlight, we’re focused on building an all-in-one money and safety app for families,” said Sushil Sharma, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at Greenlight. “With the addition of place alerts, we now offer the most comprehensive solution on the market to help parents keep their kids safe while teaching them invaluable financial skills.”

Greenlight’s new place alerts are included in Greenlight Infinity, the company’s most holistic subscription plan with a robust suite of family finance and safety features. With Greenlight Infinity, families can access location sharing, SOS alerts, crash detection with 911 dispatch, driving scores, reports, trip alerts, and now real-time place alerts, alongside financial tools for earning, saving, spending, and investing — all in the Greenlight app.
