SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--()--SEKO Logistics (SEKO), the leader in end-to-end global logistics, today released its second annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, showcasing the company's 2023-2024 accomplishments and continued progress towards its short-term and long-term ESG goals.

“As we look to the future, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable freight forwarding,” said Kai Lincoln, SEKO’s VP, Global Sustainability. “We’re excited about the continued integration and adoption of renewable energy sources and low-carbon options, the ongoing improvement within our own facilities, and the further enhancement of our sustainability programs, both globally and locally.”

Highlights from this year’s report include:

  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): In Q3 2024, SEKO and United Airlines signed the cargo division’s largest single SAF contract to-date. SAF, a renewable alternative to traditional jet fuel, offers a practical solution that can be utilized with existing infrastructure, enabling immediate reductions in carbon emissions. With the aviation sector striving to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, SEKO is at the forefront of freight forwarders propelling action towards these goals, leading the charge through education, advocacy and active engagement with its clients and partners.
  • Investments in Electric Trucks: In November 2024, the SEKO team in Hong Kong/Southern China identified electric trucks as an innovative and sustainable solution for pallet and less-than-container load (LCL) pickups in Shenzhen. This strategic investment reflects SEKO's commitment to decarbonization while addressing the growing demand for environmentally friendly logistics options.
  • Humanitarian Aid: Leveraging its global logistics capabilities and assets, SEKO partnered with humanitarian organization, Airlink, to deliver 1,074 metric tons of essential supplies to 15 countries in 2023. This effort provided relief of over $3 million to NGOs globally, enabling more than one million people worldwide to receive lifesaving and life-sustaining aid.
  • Eco-Friendly Facilities: SEKO’s Australia office set a new benchmark for sustainability by relocating to a facility designed with green technologies, including rooftop solar panels, LED lighting and sensors, EV charging stations, water tanks for harvesting rain and smart irrigation for facility landscaping. The move aligns with SEKO’s commitment to achieving carbon-neutral owned facilities by 2030.

“I am incredibly proud of our ongoing commitment to ESG, particularly in the face of a complex and uncertain global economy,” said James Gagne, SEKO’s President & CEO. “As we look forward, our path remains clear – without sustainability truly underpinning the culture within SEKO, making rapid and material effective change will be impossible to achieve.”
