AMERICUS, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Pivotal – an organization founded by Melinda French Gates – is launching a donation match called the “Pivotal Donation Match for Women & Families,” as part of a larger effort to inspire generosity and connection across the United States. Recognizing the important impact of family caregiving on women, Pivotal selected Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI) as one of two organizations to participate in the match. Pivotal will match up to $500,000 in individual donations at the 1:1 level (up to $20,000 per donation) to RCI and The Vote Mama Foundation (totaling a match of up to $1 million).
This initiative underscores the critical role of women as family caregivers, with RCI uniquely positioned to leverage their expertise to deliver impact for this community due to their history as a cross-sector collaborator that drives systems change. With over 105 million family caregivers in the U.S. providing essential care to many, funds raised will directly support RCI’s mission to advance collaborative solutions rooted in evidence, driven by caregivers, and focused on achieving sustained impact.
“At the heart of this campaign is a recognition of the vital but often invisible role family caregivers play in our communities,” said Paurvi Bhatt, President and Chief Impact Officer of RCI. “Pivotal’s generous support amplifies our work to ensure caregivers are seen and that systems are changed to support them more effectively. This GivingTuesday, we invite donors to stand with us and double their impact through this extraordinary matching opportunity.”
The donation match will empower RCI to expand its groundbreaking programs, which aim to transform the systems needed to provide intentional support for family caregivers. By influencing policy, informing research, and elevating caregiver expertise, RCI is changing how family caregivers are focused on across sectors. This landmark initiative comes at a critical time when economic and social factors are bringing the core issues of a growing “sandwich generation” where millions of Americans across cultures, ethnicities, and geographies balance aspects of their life, like work and parenting, as well as caring for individuals who are aging, experiencing illness, or living with a disability.
Focusing on each organization’s exemplary impact on women and families, the Pivotal Donation Match for Women & Families puts a spotlight on the disproportionate impact caregiving has on women. While caregiving is a truly universal experience, the fact is that female caregivers spend as much as 50% more time providing care than male caregivers.
As Melinda French Gates stated in the Associated Press, “There is so much work to be done in the United States to make a more equitable society. It’s a great time to remind people that we’re better off when we give something back and we all have something to give back.”
Through this campaign, Pivotal will match donations 1:1 in support of RCI and the Vote Mama Foundation (up to $500,000 per organization), with a cap of $20,000 per donation. Donations will unlock crucial funding to drive RCI’s mission forward and advance a shared vision of a more equitable, caregiver-centered future.
The campaign, hosted on Every.org, runs through noon eastern December 13th, giving donors the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of caregivers while doubling the impact of their generosity.
