University of Phoenix Career Navigator Strengthens Ecosystem of Skills-Focused Education and Career Planning Support for Students and Alumni

More than 100,000 students and alumni engage with career focused platform designed for working adult learners since its implementation

PHOENIX--()--University of Phoenix Career Navigator career guidance platform has strengthened the University ecosystem of skills-focused career planning support for students and alumni with more than 100,000 unique users engaging it since its launch in 2023. The Career Navigator platform brings together career-focused tools in a user-friendly interface where students and alumni can easily search various career options, plan their next steps, assess their skills, and explore job opportunities that align with their program and goals.

"The Career Navigator platform has become an essential tool for our students and alumni, empowering them to connect their education to meaningful career opportunities and confidently pursue their professional aspirations,” states Sandip Bhakta, vice president, Career Services and Support, at University of Phoenix. “Working adult learners face challenges juggling time and family as well as work demands, so it’s imperative that they encounter user-friendly, one-stop shop experiences like this platform for their educational and career planning.”

Students and alumni can access Career Navigator through their secure student portal. Through Career Navigator, students can:

  • Use Career Explorer to learn about job growth, outlook, descriptions, and salary ranges.
  • Access Career Plan which helps users set clear career goals and outlines actionable steps to create a personalized roadmap with achievable milestones and guidance to help them continue moving forward in their career journey.
  • View skills they have demonstrated in their courses and those they have added from prior work and life experience in Skills Profile.
  • Utilize Job Explorer to find current job postings personalized for their education and career goals, making it easy to review relevant job postings and determining if they want to apply.

Since its implementation, the Career Navigator platform has been engaged by more than 100,000 unique users who are University of Phoenix students or alumni. More than 7,000 students opened job opportunities in the Job Explorer, while nearly 9,000 students used the platform to identify a potential career goal.

The Career Navigator platform is integrated with the University’s career focused support services as part of the Career Services for Life® commitment, consisting of a suite of services and resources including access to career advisors for additional personalized support with resumes, interview preparation, and other career planning needs. More than 2,000 students and alumni complete career advisor appointments annually, and the next enhancement to Career Navigator will allow users to schedule appointments directly from the platform.

To better measure engagement and career planning activities by students using the platform, the University identifies a Career Planning Milestone as an action of taking a step within the suite of career services, including saving a career or job title, adding self-reported skills from prior work experience, clicking ‘Apply Now’ on a job opportunity in Job Explorer, and completing a career advisor appointment. Since the implementation of Career Navigator, more than 30,400 students achieved a Career Planning Milestone.

In survey results from an entry point course for most undergraduate programs, GEN 201, 82% of students reported that career resources including the Career Navigator helped them gain clarity about career goals (End of Course Survey, September 2023 through August 2024, based on 15,400 respondents).

The Career Navigator platform continues to expand with enhanced functionality through testing integration with a skills-based platform for recruiters. The integrated platform, UOPX Talent Source, gives employers the ability to identify spools of potential candidates that have reported skills that match those being sought by the employer for a particular job opening.

University of Phoenix provides skills-mapped curriculum focused on the working adult learner in 100 percent of associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs open for new enrollment.
