Mayor Michele Dale Calls for Investigation into Live Nation Lawsuit on Behalf of Plaintiff

WEST MILFORD, N.J.--()--Mayor of West Milford, Michele Dale, is urging New Jersey’s Attorney General Matt Platkin and New Jersey Department of Justice representative Philip Sellinger to investigate the case of a plaintiff, Thomas “Tommy” Dorfman, in a 13-year legal battle against Live Nation and the prolonged delay in reaching a jury trial.

“I am committed to reaching across party lines to correct this regulatory oversight and to foster a fair, affordable and competitive live entertainment industry for all consumers and fans, including West Milford residents who deserve fair ticket prices,” Mayor Dale said.

Dorfman, founder of Juice Entertainment in West Milford, NJ, built his career as a successful nightclub promoter creating the landmark Bliss Night Club in Clifton. His ongoing lawsuit against Live Nation, the world’s largest live entertainment company, was recently featured in a documentary by Four Corners on ABC Australia.

In a March 28, 2024, report, the late Congressman Bill Pascrell spotlighted Dorfman’s case, which involves allegations of potential financial irregularities against Live Nation. The company was recently sued by the United States Department of Justice for antitrust violations, echoing issues raised by Dorfman since 2011. As of August 2024, 40 states and the District of Columbia have joined an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster.

“I am incredibly grateful for Mayor Dale's unwavering support. The Mayor's backing gives me renewed hope and strength. Her commitment to fighting for fairness in the live entertainment industry not only impacts me but all of us who believe in transparency, accountability, and justice,” said Dorfman.

Dorfman’s career was derailed in 2011 by his legal fight against Live Nation. His David-and-Goliath battle has gained traction following an report by Dr. Richard Barnet, a prominent academic in the industry. This report, cited by Congressman Pascrell, highlights long-standing calls to dismantle the Live Nation/Ticketmaster conglomerate, citing the merger’s failure to address industry concerns and the resulting public frustration.

The Office of Mayor Michele Dale is committed to building a strong and resilient West Milford through collaboration and transparency. The township is dedicated to improving infrastructure, enhancing public services, promoting economic development and preserving natural resources.
