CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comprehensive Rehab Consultants (“CRC” or the “Company”), one of the largest physiatry, psychiatry, and care transition groups in the United States, today announced that Mark Parkinson, former President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (“AHCA/NCAL”), will join CRC’s Board of Directors effective November 4, 2024.
At CRC, Mr. Parkinson will leverage his healthcare and policy expertise to continue to champion patient-focused care in the post-acute space by helping the Company support its partner facilities, their staff, and most importantly, the patients they serve.
Mr. Parkinson retired from his role at AHCA/NCAL on October 15, after expanding the organization to represent over 14,000 skilled nursing facilities and assisted living centers nationwide, establishing it as the largest association in long-term care. His tenure strengthened AHCA/NCAL’s advocacy with Congress and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), advancing policies to improve the quality of care.
Asim Aziz, Chief Operating Officer of CRC, commented, “CRC was founded with a singular purpose: to partner with nursing home providers to improve the quality of care their residents receive. Mark has championed this mission in his role as CEO of AHCA/NCAL, and we are deeply honored that he has chosen to join our organization to continue working toward this goal. We are thrilled to welcome him to the CRC family and look forward to all we will accomplish together.”
Mr. Parkinson added, “I want to spend the rest of my career working with companies and providers who are committed to providing outstanding care. Working with CRC fulfills that mission. By placing physiatrists and physiatry-certified nurse practitioners in buildings, CRC is materially improving the care of post-acute residents. Outcomes improve and rehospitalizations drop. Remarkably, CRC offers this service at no cost to the nursing home. It’s a classic win/win. I’m anxious to be a part of CRC’s mission to spread this care across the country.”
Before joining AHCA/NCAL, Mr. Parkinson served as the 45th Governor of Kansas and owned and operated long-term care facilities in Kansas and Missouri. Throughout his career, Mr. Parkinson has received numerous accolades, including being named a “Top Association CEO” by CEO Update, recognized as a “Top Lobbyist” by The Hill for 11 consecutive years (2013-2023), and listed among Modern Healthcare’s “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” in 2015. Mr. Parkinson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas.
