CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CoreGiving, a nonprofit organization founded to fight childhood hunger across the U.S., hosted its fourth annual CoreGiving Day on October 10, 2024. Serving as the official kickoff to Blackstone’s 2024 Global Fight Hunger campaign, this year’s CoreGiving Day was the largest to date, and marked the first time that international volunteers participated in the initiative. Over 3,000 employees from Blackstone and 21 of its portfolio companies volunteered their time to support local hunger-relief organizations in more than 80 cities across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Together, their work made over 1 million meals accessible to neighbors in need.
“It’s been equally powerful and meaningful to witness how much CoreGiving Day has grown since its founding,” said Luke J. Petherbridge, chairman and co-founder of CoreGiving, and CEO of Link Logistics. “Food insecurity remains a major global issue, and I’m proud to have worked alongside more than 3,000 employees who came together this year to fight childhood hunger and create a meaningful impact in their communities.”
Since its inception, CoreGiving has provided more than 66 million meals to children and families facing hunger in the U.S. In 2023 alone, it granted more than $4 million to 76 charity partners across 25 states.
“CoreGiving Day 2024 was incredible, as we went global this year to include team members across four continents and added over 900 more volunteers compared to last year,” said Bridget O'Connell, executive director of CoreGiving. “I am continually inspired by the enthusiasm our volunteers bring, and it’s gratifying to hear the praise they’ve earned for their productivity, organizational skills and even their competitive spirit—all in service to a great cause, whether they’re working on urban farms, in warehouses, pantries or kitchens. I’m equally moved by the overwhelming support from the members of our community who have not only donated their time but also made generous financial contributions to aid families impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton through CoreGiving.”
