CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., announced today a $40,922 donation to the Camden Special Services District (CSSD) through the One Water Street Grant Program. Funding supports CSSD’s Clean & Green Downtown Camden Initiative through the addition of 12 commercial-grade public recycling stations and 10 pet waste stations.
“We are thrilled to partner with the American Water Charitable Foundation and introduce Downtown Camden’s first-ever public recycling program and expand dog waste stations throughout the community,” said Ray Romo, Interim Executive Director, CSSD/CBID. “This initiative will enhance the capacity of our Clean & Safe program, reduce landfill waste, support responsible pet ownership, and improve the overall quality of life in Downtown Camden.”
CSSD, a Camden-based nonprofit organization managing the Camden Business Improvement District (CBID), supports prosperous downtown and waterfront commercial centers, livable neighborhoods and vibrant urban places.
“The City of Camden is grateful for the support of the American Water Charitable Foundation and its continued partnership with our community stakeholders,” said Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen. “This grant award to CSSD will help bolster sustainability and cleanliness, promote recycling, and mitigate the environmental impact of pet waste runoff – resulting in positive outcomes and a better quality of life for residents.”
The One Water Street grant is part of the Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. One Water Street grants support high-impact projects and initiatives that benefit Camden, N.J., home of American Water’s corporate headquarters.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is proud to partner with the Camden Special Services District on the City’s inaugural public recycling & pet waste station program,” said Carrie Williams, President, American Water Charitable Foundation. “As committed stewards of the environment, the Foundation supports initiatives centered around environmental sustainability that continue to improve and enhance communities we serve.”
