Sarofim was named to the National Air and Space Museum Board alongside Hillwood Aviation President and CEO Matt Byrd in August 2024.
“It is a distinct honor to serve on the National Air and Space Museum Board,” said Sarofim, reflecting on this esteemed appointment. “Trousdale Ventures was launched to invest in ambitious founders who are finding innovative ways to build a better tomorrow. The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum collects, preserves, studies, and exhibits artifacts, archival materials, and works of art related to the history, culture, and science of aviation and spaceflight and the study of the universe. Its research and outreach activities serve all audiences, within and beyond the walls of its two locations — the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. The Museum commemorates the past and is committed to educating and inspiring people to foster appreciation for the importance of flight to humanity.
“We are grateful for the Board’s ongoing assistance to help fuel our mission and extend our vision to other aerospace leaders and enthusiasts,” said Chris Browne, the John and Adrienne Mars Director of the National Air and Space Museum. “The support of such influential leaders as Phillip Sarofim propel the Museum forward in our ambitious goals to bring the wonder and potential of aviation and space to as many people as possible.”
Sarofim and Trousdale Ventures’ support of the air and space industry is evident in its diverse portfolio of investments, including such dynamic companies as CesiumAstro and Venus Aerospace that are revolutionizing the landscape of high-speed flight and space exploration.
