GEICO Philanthropic Foundation Donating $500,000 to the American Red Cross to Support Hurricane Relief Efforts

Donation will aid the nonprofit humanitarian organizations’ support of providing shelters and services for those impacted by recent storms

WASHINGTON--()--Following the catastrophic damage caused by both Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation has announced it is donating $500,000 to the American Red Cross to support ongoing relief efforts. The GEICO Philanthropic Foundation is also committing to a dollar-for-dollar match for its employees’ donations to the American Red Cross.

The Foundation’s donation to the American Red Cross will help provide much-needed meals, supplies, and shelter to impacted communities which include many of the company’s employees and customers.

“With Hurricane Milton following closely in Hurricane Helene’s wake, the American Red Cross is on the ground helping families recover from these vicious storms,” said Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “We’re thankful to the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation for standing with us to provide help and hope as communities begin to navigate the long road to recovery.”

Restoration Efforts

GEICO’s Catastrophe Response Team (CAT) quickly deployed to help get customers back on their feet. Hundreds of GEICO insurance adjusters and support staff are onsite in several southeastern states, including Florida, to assist customers that have been affected by these recent storms.

GEICO will continue to participate in response efforts and mobilize additional resources to assist impacted customers. With over 85 years of experience responding to disasters, GEICO’s Catastrophe Response Team will remain on the ground as long as necessary to assist customers.
