JAMS Leads ADR Into AI Age with Launch of JAMS Next, AI-Powered Services

JAMS Next provides a host of AI-powered tools and resources that promote efficient dispute resolution for parties across the globe.

IRVINE, Calif.--()--JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the launch of JAMS Next, an innovative initiative that will leverage AI-powered tools to streamline the dispute resolution process. JAMS Next reinforces the organization’s commitment to making advanced tools available to attorneys and their clients, panelists and associates.

“JAMS Next was inspired by AI technology that we’ve seen impact the legal practice around the globe. This new suite of capabilities will transform the dispute resolution process for all parties involved, as well as for our JAMS panelists and associates,” said Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president. “We see JAMS Next as a way to reinforce our commitment to delivering exceptional client service, and we look forward to continuing to provide creative, innovative ADR solutions.”

JAMS Next was designed to capture and build upon JAMS’ commitment to innovation in the AI space and will initially include the below offerings:

AI-Powered Transcriptions

JAMS is launching transcription services provided by Prevail™. This AI-assisted testimony management and court reporting platform can help reduce the time it takes to generate a transcript and, ultimately, to support a seamless experience throughout the resolution process. This real-time AI-assisted court reporting platform will provide the following benefits:

  • Streamlined proceedings: The AI-powered transcription service makes rough drafts available in real-time and delivers certified transcripts in just five days. All certified transcripts are reviewed by credentialed court reporters and offer a high degree of accuracy.
  • Security and confidentiality: Prevail is ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 Type 2 attested and offers the highest degree of data security in legal transcription. Transcription data remains in a secure cloud environment throughout the entire process, making confidential testimony and exhibits safer and less susceptible to hacking.
  • Productivity and efficiency: Prevail’s platform integrates seamlessly with JAMS’ premium hearing technology and provides additional tools to optimize workflow, allowing the user to instantly search transcripts, create video clips, and hear audio playback.

AI-Assisted Neutral Search

The JAMS website will now include a new natural language search feature that will allow those who visit the website to use custom conversational queries, preset filters, and keywords to aid in finding and sorting through panelists. The AI-assisted neutral search will include flexible options, such as a search function that can respond to conversational queries like, “Find a neutral with IP arbitration experience in New York.”

AI Rules

Earlier this year, JAMS launched the JAMS Artificial Intelligence Disputes Clause and Rules, the legal industry’s first rules pertaining to AI, which create a clear, predictable framework to address the unique challenges presented by AI. The rules provide specialized requirements for arbitrator candidates, use of a protective order to maintain confidentiality and data integrity, and otherwise streamline the presentation of technical evidence. Additionally, the rules were created to expand the guidelines for domestic arbitration proceedings that involve new technology systems.

Virtual ADR Services

JAMS remains at the forefront of remote and hybrid hearings. Trained virtual moderators, online case management, and updated videoconferencing allow parties to resolve cases from anywhere. JAMS supports a wide range of platforms, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Webex. More information can be found here.
