National Vision Opens 2024-2025 Scholarship Program, Highlighting AI’s Role in the Future of Eye Care

$12,500 to be Awarded to Optometry Students in Program’s Tenth-Year

DULUTH, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--National Vision, Inc., one of the nation’s largest optical retailers providing quality, affordable eye care and eyewear, announced today that its annual scholarship program is open for entries, offering eligible optometry students the opportunity to win up to $7,500.

This year’s scholarship program challenges students to explore the topic of “AI and the Future of Eye Care.” Third- and fourth-year optometry students are invited to submit written or video essays discussing the potential benefits and challenges of integrating AI into eye care. Entrants are also encouraged to share their perspectives on how National Vision can lead in adopting these innovations to serve diverse communities, helping to ensure access to quality care for all.

“AI is rapidly changing the healthcare landscape, and we want to hear from the next generation of optometrists on how this technology can be embraced to improve patient outcomes,” said Priti Patel, O.D., Chief Medical Officer at National Vision. “As AI continues to shape the future of eye care, it’s essential that optometrists are ready to lead with both innovation and a commitment to equitable care for underserved populations. We look forward to hearing students’ insights on how AI can transform the field.”

Submissions for the 2024-2025 scholarship program are open via National Vision’s scholarship program portal to students in good standing with an optometry school in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada. In addition to the first-place $7,500 scholarship, two runner-up scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded. Students are encouraged to highlight any initiatives they have participated in during their education that focus on innovative technologies or improving access to care.
